Interview with Glam of Wig Wam by Ioannis Corfiatis

Norway "rocks" Europe! Eurovision will never be the same after them! Wig Wam are bound to revolutionise the Contest! Here's what Glam from Wig Wam said to our chief editor: We are only a few days away from the big event, and you must be extremely busy. How's your preparation going? Are you ready for Kyiv? Do you feel nervous at all?
We're feeling fine, and to be totally honest with you, we haven't had the time to even think about Kyiv yet. We've been very busy touring and meeting our fans. So I guess you can say that's our preparation then *S*

Why did you decide to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest? How do you think Eurovision is going to help your career?
We've been touring Norway from coast to coast for years and years, and even though our audience kept growing big time, the record industry here didn't believe in Wig Wam a bit. They kept telling us Rock is Dead. Try something hip instead. Well! We didn't! We went to the studio to finish our album ourselves, when some smart ass sent one of our songs to the Norwegian Eurosong. That song was called "Crazy Things", and made a great #3 in the Norwegian final last year, leading to a broader audience for us in Norway, and even making us better known elsewhere in Europe. We even secured a licence deal for our album. This year the Norwegian broadcasting invited us, even without hearing our contribution. We were given full control, and picked out one of the 6 finished songs for our forthcoming album. Since "IN MY DREAMS" became the new Norwegian Schläger, we decided to put it out on our last album "HARD TO BE A ROCK'N ROLLER", and re-named it "HARD TO BE A ROCK'N ROLLER... IN KIEV". This is the european version.

"In My Dreams"
is definitely not what people think of a typical Eurovision entry. Would you like to tell us a few things about your song? Do you think your innovation will "rock" the European viewers?
I wouldn't call it innovation. We're just a GlamRock band who happens to appear in a kind of stagnated formula called Eurovision Song Contest. We like to think of it as a Music Festival designed to celebrate music that forgot about good old Rock'n Roll!!! And it's about time someone rocks this festival. Next year it will be called "The Monsters of EuroRock Fest", and we'll be happy to join the bill. And YEAH! I think the viewers are ready for some Rock'n Roll!

What kind of reception did your entry have from the Norwegian people and media after winning the National Final? Do you have their full support? We have full support from our fans (the Norwegian people). We have topped the charts 3 weeks in a row of totally 7 weeks in the charts with a #4 as the lowest. And that was the first week! We have just received our gold single, and the album is really selling well now too. Our tour is packed and the girls are drop dead gorgeous. We're having a ball! The only ones who don't support Wig Wam in Norway are the radio people. They have banned us and refused playing "IN MY DREAMS" on the radio. Typical Norwegian radio. If it ain't west coast or easy listening... you're damned!

All fans are very interested to know how your song will be presented in Kyiv. Can you reveal to us any secrets of how your stage performance is going to be like? Will it be similar to the one we saw in the Norwegian Final? We have no idea! We're a spontaneous band. We may appear on stage without any outfits. Janet Jackson did it for Christ sake! Why can't we? We're also talking about tuxedos, just to fit in with the sophisticated people *S*

The competition in the Eurovision Song Contest is very tough nowadays, as many entries have the potential to win the trophy. Do you think that your entry can be this year's winner? Do you feel "threatened" by any entry / entries in particular?
So, it is a competition after all *S* You Know! We're just going to Kyiv to rock! We're not a football team, we're a Rock'n Roll band. And if the crowd goes nuts we have done our job. Our mission is to rock and entertain! But of course, if the European people want us to win this thing, we'll be the luckiest rock band in the world. That would be a Rock'n Roll revolution!!!

We would like to thank you for this interview and to wish you the very best of luck in Kyiv. We are looking forward with enjoyment to your performance on 19/05/2005, and hopefully on 21/05/2005!
Yeah, that's right *S* I had almost forgotten that we're gonna do two festivals in Kyiv! Both the 19th and the 21st *S* Why do some artists only get permission to do the Saturday gig! It's not fair! Keep rocking in the free world...
