Hokksund – Burrn! [Jap - in English]
LIVE REPORT at Byfest, Hokksund, Norway on June 16th 2006 September 2006 issue
WIG WAM won at MGP and their popularity in Norway is incredible. They played 2 songs in front of a big audience in Oslo for a TV program sponsored by VG before the gig in Hokksund. It takes an hour by car from Oslo to Hokksund, they went there by helicopter! Many people waiting in front of the stage at a small place having a bar counter seemed to impatient to wait for the show. I don't believe 70% of the audience seem to be under 15 even when it was about 11pm, it was in the midnight sun though. And the number of women is much more than men, there were little girls who don't go to school yet. Of course there were their parents, anyway we find WIG WAM have fans in all the generations. The show started with the introduction for the album WIG WAMANIA. The audience screamed loud like they welcomed idol stars when shadows of the guys appeared on the curtain. The curtain fell, "that-looking" guys came to the stage, they played "Rock My Ride". They use a programmed sound for important parts to make their live sound gorgeous like on their album.
They played "Bless The Night" and "Gonna Get You Someday" and the audience sang along well with any song. It shows that their catchy melodies just attract Norwegian people a lot. They play smiling and the good skills of the guys, Glam (vo) leads the show by his talking (the way we expect from his image) and singing. Teeny, his smiles make female fans crazy for him, showed his amazing tech. of playing guitar in "The Riddle". Flash who reminds us (Japanese people) of HG (a comedian who calls himself a hard gay) and Sporty who looks like a "bit bad stubborn" guy, their images are strong,as well. I believe this atomosphere like cartoon characters who are not in the real world takes kids' hearts away. The stage was covered by a red flag, pyros were exploded on this small stage. They do their best on their entertainment. After playing "Dare Devil Heat", a new single in Norway, they planned to play 2 more songs, but they had to leave the stage once because there was a time limit for playing.
They came to the stage again to play "In My Dreams" which every fan looked for. The audience got so excited for this track which won at MGP, everyone, old, young, male and female fans sang along "Come on, come on, come on". You'll think you're really happy to be there, want to feel this again - fresh, happy and powerful WIG WAM show.
