667 ...The Neighbour Of The Beast - Melodic.net [se]
3.5 / 5 - Glam-Lead Vocals,Teeny-Guitars,Flash-Bass and Sporty-Drums...there you have the guys behind this HUGE PARTY AOR DOSE you're getting if you lay your hands on WIG WAM's new album by the humorous title "667..The Neighbour of the Beast".
But I have to warn you because you gotta be real huge fan of classic 80's AOR like Bon Jovi's "Living on a prayer",Vanhalen's "Jump" and Alice Cooper's "Poison",otherwise you might think this is rather silly....I don't have any problems with this overdose of Desmond Child era sounding songs.
It's done with a real portion of humour, some of you may draw parallels to The Darkness but I don't see any similarities to those Retro rockers more than they are both saluting the 80's.
These Norwegian party rockers play very well and have lots of singalong choruses that won't leave your head for another year or so,WIG WAM came 3rd in the Norwegian contest of the Eurovision song contest with the song "Crazy things" this year which isn't really that kinda song that belongs in the Grand Prix family....however they lighted up things a bit with that crazy AOR ride.
Guitarist Teeny has a sound not far from his fellow country man Ronni Le Tekro of TNT,quite a good cutting edge to his axework but the Eddie VanHalen inspired "Erection" felt a bit unnecessary on the album....we already have "Eruption" from VH.
They also do an AOR version of Melanie C's hit "Turn to you",good song-good cover and the catchy "Bless the night" is a true Arena rocker (even if some guitarharmonies sounds spooky close to Scorpions "Rock you like hurricane".
Jump on over to AOR Heaven and get it now, yeeehaaa!
