Wig Wam – Nonstop Rock ‘n Roll

Wig Wam return after a four-year hiatus, where individual members took part in side projects of their own. This is only their third album, following the successful “Wigwamania” released in 2006. The result upon release of this album is a more mature-sounding Wig Wam, with less in the way of tongue-in-cheek lyrics, but still sounding bombastic and fresh.

The album opens with the stadium rocker “Do ya wanna taste it” and, once the sounds of the song fade away, one definitely wants to taste more of the album! The band delivers in style, with soaring melodies, bombastic 80’s-style glam rock (although I like the term Scandi rock). The guitars sound edgier and more prominent on this album than the previous two, which I found pleasing to the ear. Two ballads also feature on the album, which are well done and, as an extra twist, Teeny (guitarist) does some singing too! My only gripes are the bonus track, which isn’t up to the standard of the rest of the album, and that the album doesn’t quite clock 45 minutes…

Nevertheless, this is a brilliant melodic rock album which I’m sure will feature in one’s highlights of 2010.
