WIG WAM - NON STOP ROCK & ROLL

90 / 100
Wig Wam is a four piece Norwegian glam hard rock band in the style of KISS and the Sweet. Wig Wam have made their name by working their ass over the last few years. They founded in 2001 but it took until 2004 the first album would be released. Wig Wam’s big break came in 2004 with the song "Crazy Things" which was written for the Norwegian song festival. They finished at the third place but their name was made. Wig Wam became in a short time one of the most favourite live bands in Norway…. and calling their fans Wigwam maniacs.
2004 was also the year of the debut album called "667…The Neighbour of The Beast". The album included the hits "Crazy Things", "In My Dreams" and the Mel C cover "I turn to you". Thanks to a better distribution in 2006 the second Wig Wam album "Wigwammania" is available in the better record stores all over the world. This album was also released in Japan with a different title "It’s Hard To Be a Rock ’n’ Roller… in Tokyo".

So now in 2010 they released the third studio album "Non Stop Rock ’n’ Roll". They couldn’t have picked a better title. From the first track you know what you are going to get for the next 45 minutes. Songs that tickle your ears and put a smile on your face. Like the opener "Do Ya Wanna Taste It", "Wild One" and "Rocket Though My Heart". You can sing along with the second time you hear them.
Glam rock fans can bang their heads with songs like "C’mon everybody", the same titled "Non Stop Rock ’n’ Roll", "Chasing Rainbows" (with the "Mammama" from Lady GaGa's "Poker Face" hidden in it!) and the bonus track "Gotta Get It On". You can hear in songs like the single "Man In The Moon" and "From Here" that singer Åge Sten Nilsen has a great voice.

Wig Wam will put themselves with "Non Stop Rock ’n’ Roll" in the international frontline of melodic rock standing shoulder to shoulder with other North European bands like The Poodles, Brother Firetribe and H.E.A.T. How can I finish this review better than to quote the band's slogan “Rock is the new schläger..."
