Wig Wamania – Rock Pages [gr]

We first heard of them at the Eurovision song contest last year, where they participated with “In My Dreams”, and did quite well preparing the ground for Lordi’s triumph this year. “Wigwamania” is their third full length studio album. For those of you that don’t know about them, we have to say that Wig Wam are into glam borrowing a lot from Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Bonfire and all the hair metal, melodic, poser bands of the ‘80s. In their songs you’ll find the catchy riff, the big addictive choruses, the solo in the middle. The Norwegians know their stuff and Wigwamania finds them at the top of their game. It’s a very good album featuring awesome material. “Gonna Get You Some Day”, the first single, stands out at once. It brings to mind “Slippery When Wet”-era Bon Jovi, and I bet that if it was out 15 years ago it would have been a huge hit. “Rock My Ride” with the “Run to The Hills” like opening drumming(!), is one of those songs that if it was on vinyl you’d melt the plastic on that spot. On the other hand, it might as well bring a lot in mind, but still nothing specific. “Slave To Your Love” is a wonderfull mid-tempo that’s gonna make you play the album even more. In general Wigwamania is one of those albums that won’t put you into trouble to pick which songs we’d play, since it’s destined to be played straight through from the beginning to the end.
