WIG WAM have belted out a very good follow up to 2005’s success album “Hard To Be A Rock’N’Roller“. “Wig Wamania“ continues exactly where the debut had left off and offers top Hard Rock with immense catchiness. Who still likes the reference works of RATT, DANGER DANGER, FIREHOUSE etc., will probably already have this CD, no? Then go out and change this, folks!  

Indeed every single song leaves a good impression and does not disgrace the good old 80s arena poser Rock. Altogether I only have one complaint about this album, that being them working too much with more quiet and balladesque elements and that the production could have done with more corners and edges. But who cares, the songs are international standard anyway or are even better. Well, somehow especially the Scandinavians really have this sound and these incredible melodies down pat (see EUROPE, PRETTY MAIDS, TREAT,...) and that is no different on this album. And that the four guys have great fun with it is obvious.  

They bring a good mood into every party, crackers such as the very LITA FORD-like “Gonna Get You Someday“ or the instrumental “The Riddle”, which stands somewhere between GARY MOORE’s “Over The Hills And Far Away“ and T.N.T.’s “Sapphire”. Who cares, the whole album really is a fix and every fan of commercial sounds will think the same, promised!

Einen sehr guten Nachfolger zum 2005’er Erfolgsalbum „Hard To Be A Rock'N'Roller“ haben WIG WAM herausgehauen. „Wig Wamania“ setzt genau dort an, wo das Debüt aufhörte und bietet erstklassigen Hard Rock mit Ohrwurmqualitäten. Wer sich nach wie vor an den Referenzwerken von RATT, DANGER DANGER, FIREHOUSE etc. erfreut, wird auch diese CD schon abgegriffen haben, oder etwa nicht? Na, dann macht mal hin, Leute!  

Tatsächlich macht hier jeder Song eine gute Figur und somit dem alten 80´er Stadion-Poserrock keine Schande. Insgesamt habe ich an dem Album lediglich auszusetzen, dass für meinen Geschmack etwas zuviel mit ruhigeren, balladesken Elementen gearbeitet wurde und dass die Produktion mehr Ecken und Kanten vertragen hätte. Aber was soll es, die Lieder entsprechen so oder so dem internationalen Standard, oder sind sogar noch besser. Tja, irgendwie haben es speziell die Skandinavier sowieso drauf, verdammt geile Melodien zu schreiben (siehe EUROPE, PRETTY MAIDS, TREAT,...) und das ist auf dieser Scheibe auch nicht anders. Und dass die vier Nasen einen mordsmäßigen Spaß in den Backen haben, ist ebenfalls nicht zu überhören.  

Es kommt jedenfalls mächtig gute Laune auf, Fetzern wie dem sehr LITA FORD-mäßigen „Gonna Get You Someday“ oder dem zwischen GARY MOORE’s „Over The Hills And Far Away“ und T.N.T.’s „Sapphire“-Werken pendelnde Instrumental „The Riddle“ zu lauschen. Ach was, das ganze Album fixt mich tierisch an und jedem Freund kommerzieller Klänge wird es genauso gehen, versprochen!
